A Letter to Clients and Friends:

In August of 1989, I had the good fortune of being hired by the Joliet Law Firm of Shutts & Shutts, a four-generation law firm that opened its doors in 1880. Gene Shutts and his son, Bob, hired me right out of law school. They taught me, by example, what it takes to serve clients in a thorough and professional manner. They also taught me the importance of being part of the community.

In 1995, I became a partner of the firm.  More importantly, Gene and Bob not only made me part of the law firm, but they made me part of the Shutts family. Bob Shutts became my best friend. He was the best man at my wedding. I drove his daughter, Sara, to the hospital for the birth of Bob’s first grandchild.
In 2015, Bob reached that point in his life where he decided to wind down his practice and after practicing law together for over 25 years, Bob and I amicably parted ways. Since then, I’ve been owner of my own practice. I am truly enjoying this next chapter in my practice.
I appreciate the support that all of you have shown and remain available to service your legal needs.

I look forward to assisting you.

Very truly yours,
Vince G. Portlock
